Thesis

Sunday, 4 May 2008

Suddenly, I feel so bored of writing the thesis. I've just lost the darn motivation... argh... I feel restless as well. I'm gonna take a short break, and then continue. I need to be productive. Once I get into productive mode, I'm sure I can get it done in no time... Sighz.

ARGH.

Pictures

Saturday, 19 April 2008

Ahh.. finally managed to upload the photos. It seems like the zoomed-in picture of the O-Ring is too big, so it has to be uploaded by itself. Anyways, here they are:

The O-Ring. This one has some strange white thing at it's edges, soemthing to investigate.. hhmmm.. And this photo looks cool right? ohohohoho!

The apparatus for the O-RIng thingie... looks.. groovy doesn't it?
wuuuu...

Food! Don't know why I put this up. Picture taken in Aunt Sally.. and somewhere in there, are deep fried mushroom with a thick coating of.. err... flour. Damn cool. My first time seeing that. Am I very Kampung? uwuwuwuw...
Snow!
In Sheffield (and probably the rest of UK), it snows more in April than in any other months. Probably, more snow in april than the rest of the year. So much for Spring eh. So much for 'the darling buds of May'. All hidden by snow and frost.
I'm already feeling sleepy.. don't know if I should do work or rest... then wake up early tmrw to continue my endless workload. Hmm. HHm.... maybe do some exercise.. nah.. too tired and lazy, feeling very full from my dinner. Okok, I hope to update more this week.. ^^

hhmmm...

Hullo people. Hmm.. the FYP is giving me worries again. Sigh. I have to wait till Monday to see someone to clarify something. So for the mean time, I'll jsut work on the thesis. I hope I can put all these aside in my mind and concentrate. Usually I suck at that. But let's see how it'll be this time.

And the days flew by

Monday, 31 March 2008

Amazingly, it's already the third week of Easter. But actually come to think of it, I only have 8 hours of classes per week T__T. Although it sometimes interferes wtih my plan to go to the lab, it ain't that bad. Sometimes, I skip lunch cuz I'm too lazy to go back and eat lunch. T__T this might sound weird, but one of the reason is also because I eat damn slow. So I'll end up using more than one hour T__T.

Oh I just tested the O-Rings. Seems like it's hard to get consistent results, but they seem to be made of the same material. Haven't tried to analyse the results yet. Will do that later tonight, as well as start on sports engineering assignment write up.

Lately, it's getting warmer and warmer, which is good. Anyways, been doing some thinking about my career in the future, and well it befuddles me more than ever. Sigh... don't even know if I am going down the right path. Nvm. Time for olive oil drops for my ear.... gonna get my ear syringed on Wednesday morning. Groovy...

Happy mood

Yeoshhhhhhhh....!
Here are some pictures, of the sky again.. cuz I didn't go out much.. you should be able to tell by now, that Jun Xue has little social life. yes. I sometimes don't see my housemates for days. I am becoming a loner more and more.. hahaha
Oh, I should have tried out my camera's picture effect.. like black and white. or that.. yellow colour.. ugh... sepia...

Woo cool effects

Becoming a geek actually.. lol. Anyways, concerning my final year project.. (I can hear many of you sigh... ) Got some consistent results, but it seems like there is little changes. Only 2 regions (if I consider the ATR results). So... in a way.. not fantastic news, cuz got less to write in my report. However, I'll talk to my supervisor and see what he has to say about it. Maybe it's time to start writing the report... I've got.. almost one and a half month left. (and 2 other assignments, as well as my studies, neglected.. )

That's what holidays are for ladies and gentlemen.. to catch up on your studies. T__T

After PMR, holidays never meant much to me... until now. I realised.. the importance of it. LOL!

Oh I've finished Gundam Seed... hhhmmm... so.. that's all. Nice ending to it. I've actually watched the sequel before I watched it.. ahha...

Ok. That's all. March bravely to the future.

A post

Tuesday, 18 March 2008

Early today morning, I got a call from Motorola HR (malaysia wan.. hahaha) informing me that I'm slated for an interview on second april, which woke me up from my sleep... nvm... fortunately I was able to get back to sleep.. then about half an hour later, I got another call informing me that it's been postponed one day later, after which I couldn't sleep and just rolled around on my bed, going to the lab an hour later then what I planned to. Darn.

And then on my way there, I got a telephone interview by PWC Malaysia over a poor line connection and noisy environment. Sigh. Thankfully, I wasn't that keen about PWC actually (I hope they didn't see this.. ahahha)

And then, I tried again and again and again to prevent air bubles from forming in the liquid sampling cell for the FTIR. Darn. wasting my time only. Anyways, seems like there isn't much change in the absorbance, except for one little region. So, I'm gonna try using the ATR equipment tmrw, by using some blue tack to prevent the lubricant from sipping out. I am not certain that I'll get good results from it, cuz the top plate isn't the proper one for liquid samples. Hhhmmm... gotta make appointment with my supervisor too....

Hmmm. Ohhh, my first time frying bacon with leek turned out to be pretty good. I guess you can't go wrong with something so simple(yet uber delicious... maybe I was just too hungry)

buzu buzu buzu....

Hello people

Sunday, 2 March 2008

Hello people. No updates, cuz busy with many things. And about the spectrometer, if anyone of you are actually interested, apparently does no need liquid nitrogen. It's in the maintenence manual, but it's for the general equipment.. the liquid nitrogen thing is an add-on thing.. and I actually spoiled the cap trying to open it. LOL! But I pasted it all back to place liow, with lots of help from the friendly lab assistant.

Anyways, now it seems to be consistently failling the system suitability check. Gotta run more tests on Monday, then meet my supervisor as soon as possible. Aihness.. no? And oh I couldn't find the correct product number.. so I am reduced to guessing the material of the liquid cell window. Not really important actually.. but.. nevetheless..

Alright, Nuff of the boring stuff. The good stuff. I FINALLY STARTED FF VII again! Yay.. just started on Friday night.. after so long.. so long didn't play games liow.

FUn fun.. hehe.. Erm.. what else.. oh yea.. tmrw's a special day... My Birthday! I feel so unashamed announcing this to the world and hoping that everyone will give me presents. LOL just joking..
And oh, I finally realised the fun and importance of not having to plan your own b'day celebration. LOL!

Erm what else. Oh I cut my hair. Looks ok, so not gonna post pictures.

Besides that, nothing really interesting happening in my life. No joyous occasion or incident to talk about.

Oh.. my left ear hurts. DUnno why.. especially when I try to dig it. darn..

That's all folks!

Somewhat not as boring as the previous post's post...

Tuesday, 26 February 2008

Hello people. I just found out that.. I need to refill the liquid nitrogen every 4 hours of usage. So.. I guess all my previous data are useless. Tmrw, I gotta find out where to get liquid nitrogen, dessicant, and learn how to use the ATR equipment... to teach the two form six students. Sigh... Must learn how to explain this weekend.

Anyways, me, Yvonne, Yein Shiang, and Tad Song went to the Chestnut err owl and otter.. something.. park.. for a "picnic'. Predictably, it was windy and cold. LOL! Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable trip. We got to Chinley by train (I just found out that everytime I travel to manchester airport, I have to go through Peak district.. LOL) and walked all the way to the park, which took us 2 hours (it was 3 miles away.... and we walked at a languid pace, taking pictures here and there lol!) Somehow, we did not lost our way, thanks to a helpfull lady in the post office.. wow.. she's really good at giving directions!

The park was really nice.. lots of cute otters! Damn cute! Especially the asian short claw otters... and there were lots of owls too! wow.. really cool man. Anyways, enough of words, here are some of the pictures, poorly taken because I was too tired due to insufficient sleep and walking long distances.

This would have been a picturesque sight in summer

Don't let the picture fool you, those Victorian era bridges are really huge and over-engineered!
Walking happily.. lol!
Large expanse of land

Notice the circle of trees in the middle of flat land.. I wonder what's there...

Beautiful cloud and sunlight
Bright light shinning through the clouds
A rare picture of myself..

Poor creatures... these guys are really friendly though
Cute little guys.. lol!
I like this photo a lot!

Long way home...

There's light!
Eating fish
This guy tried swimming into the pipe.. lol!
The cool owls... They stay so still and look so wise. lol!
A Tree.

Golden sunset
Craps. I noticed that some of the pictures are out of order. Darn.. I can only upload 5 pictures at a time.. oh well. Time to sleep. Till next time!

boring post

Thursday, 21 February 2008

Hmm.. the Spectrometer is giving me weird results (and headache). AND I just realised that it should have been serviced... like.. 4 years ago. WTH. Well the peaks are at the same places.. but the overall transmittance is strange... Argh... how ar how ar how ar how ar how ar....

Good grief... will I kenna marah from my supervisor? All these while I tot the results are acceptable. but now.. Sigh. Is it too late to get a new one? Sigh.. how will I get around this problem.... I need to get good grades for my FYP!

Unexpected things always happen to me. Things I expected and planned for, never comes true. Isn't it weird? Worse, i hate it when things don't go as planned...

Hmmm on another note, I still can't get rid of my bad habits, strenghten my discipline. Why am I like that? I can already imagine the response... you have to change yourself! There's so much to change... I feel like a failure in many sense. Whatever it is, I am just not good enough.. unable to live up to expectations.

Rant rant rant*

When I look at this post, I know I will be asked to think positive. Sigh.. that's taking away my freedom to complain. This is a viscious cycle.

lalallalala
*shuts himself from the world to escape into fantasy

I'll be back!

Tuesday, 15 January 2008

Ughh.. I tried updating some photos but there seemed to be some sort of error..*grumble grumble..

ARNyways... Erm.. no pictures = no stories. Oh yea, I ate some expired mooncake. It seems like I survived (and thus unfortunately, still have to sit for my examinations) without even having any stomache. This proves the superiority of my theory of "if it smells good and tastes good, it is good" over common sense.

Well what else, I found the help files for the software and so I need not go to the lab for now. Today, I got the missing dll file and hopefully, I might be able to run the software without installing it properly.

I'm gonna meet with my supervisor tommorow (hopefully) so wish me luck. Suxxors, haven't really thought about what to discuss with him, besides the completed viscometer comparison matrix and the tiny bit of information i got about the software, and about why we use 4-20mA signals to transmit data T__T. Ugh.. I gotta do some research on the ADAC PCI Data acquisition board and how to use it to get data from the 4-20mA signals.. ugh.. WHY DO I NEED TO LEARN ELECTRONICS STUFF! I HATE E & E Engineering! Darn... *grumble grumble

Oh yea, I might not update for the next two weeks... gonna concentrate on my studies till I die studying or survive the exams. Hopefully former ^^""

Hmm.. time to start doing past year papers.

Update

Friday, 11 January 2008

Just watched Ratatoile. (dunno how to spell.. haha) Well.. I kinda expected it to be better somehow. hhmmm.

Anyways, I just found out that I can't install the software on my comp, for the FTIR equipment. So, I have to go to the (noisy, stinky) lab to try use the software next time. Suxxors.. why do they have to use Windows NT technology, and make it unable to run on my windows! Celaka ....

So no new pictures. Today's pretty cold. The landlord just came, to let some air off the radiators and to check the shower. It's been giving problem lately... now, it won't stop heating unless we shut off power supply to it... or else it will keep heating the water till it blows up... swt.

Well, that is better than no heating at all.. hhmm I shall take a bath after this, and then start studying liow. lalala~~ study till 5 am again... cuz i am only productive after 12 midnight (or wasting about 6 hours.. which ever occurs first)

Ja ne

Holidays have started!

Saturday, 22 December 2007

Hello people! This bloody blooger picture update screwed up so I had start all over again. Anyways, The holidays have started! There are many things that happened, but I hadn't the mood to blog. I'll try now!

Anyways, last Sunday and Thursday, Barry invited us to his place for dinner! Very delicious! Here are the photos!

Wahh Stir fried pork with curry powder!

CHICKEN RICE! The rice was so nice I could eat it on it's own!

Shifu at work.

Wahhh so many nice dishes! WOOOO
Yea.. so many nice dishes.. I am feeling hungry as I write this T__T. We got to play Tekken at his place too! Wah nice game... no super power and all that, just fighting. THe moves are pretty realistic too! Nice game nice game

Well, moving on, yesterday, my supervisor called me early in the morning to inform me that the manuals for the FTIR is ready for collection at Beighton (which turned out to be a part of Sheffield.. Sheffield is really big!). So I rushed off, printing off the map from Google Map, I went to the bus station to enquire about how to get there. The guy at the information center gave me the information booklet of the correct bus, but told me to wait at the wrong bus stop.

I realised that as I read the information booklet at the bus stop..T__T. I was a bit puzzled... who should I trust? Luckily, an kind lady at the bus stop gave me the directions to the correct bus stop (although I did got lost and had to run around like a headless chicken before finding the correct bus stop)

Anyways, to cut the long story short ( I bet you guys are already bored by now) I managed to get there. And, here are the pictures!

That's Veolia's Material Recovery Centre! Cool.. I finally know where it is!

Some.. river/long kang.. probably river.. I've seen a few small streams (with name!) in Sheffield which looks like huge long kang in malaysia

This looked real nice in real life.

Woo I like these kinda views! Long straight road....

The branches of these trees were so thin they look like bulu.. here, you can't really see it... aih

Another picture.. but this sucks

I have learned that I have to squat down and take a horizontal picture in order to make it nice.. wuwuuwuwuw note to self.

Anyway, from one of the journeys back from Barry's place, I took this last photo. It was foggy that night, and the lights from the hospital made it look beautiful. In this picture it's just all foggy:

Anyways, that's the end of this post. See you next time!

Stress

Thursday, 13 December 2007

ARGH ARGH ARGH I still get overstressed easily. I always feel I did not do enough man...

THis sucks..

I HATE MY FINAL YEAR PROJECT!

Someone save me! I don't wanna get low marks for this project! I NEED FIRST CLASS>>>>..

Aih.. suxxors suxxors... Why I like that wan.... if relax then relax kao kao... don't think anything and time flies.. when stress.. super stress. WUWUWUWUUW... I think everytime I stress, I get older four times faster. Shorten my life only. Haiseh.... why ar why.... I am not good quality student ar really...

Now I only hope to get over this year as soon as possible.. graduate and find work. Which reminds me to apply more job. Dang. I hate myself ar... so hopeless.....

Come on people, give me some motivation, some positive words. Don't give me more stress please... Although I won't consider suicide, I will likely to have a mental breakdown. Ai~~

Crazy timing

Monday, 10 December 2007

Hello people. It's 6 a.m. in the morning now. You are probably wondering why am I up so early. Nope, you are wrong. I haven't slept yet.

Lately, I find myself unable to concentrate and do things I am supposed to do. I could only start concentrating when it's very very late. Or maybe after wasting lots of time.

Perhaps I think too much. Yeosh! From tommorow onwards, I shall go jogging till I feel too tired to think! Then maybe I can concentrate better. Sigh sigh. The more I think of it the more depressing it gets.. lack of concentration. Wargh.
